Clean Water Mission in Kenya, Africa

When I set first foot on the continent of Africa in Kenya, I was surprised to see the people had so much joy and happiness, so much more than I had. The difference to me was that I take for granted the necessities of life while the Africans depend on God to deliver the daily necessities. It is normal for them to walk for half a day to get water, and it is a priority everyday. Even though the water they get from the most reliable source can bring a plethora of diseases and even death, they still have no choice but to drink it.

This is where God brings us into action through faith. When people see the clean water we provide, they see life. They see a future on earth that most of us take lightly. Now that we have their attention, those the Holy Spirit has convicted are ready to give their spiritual lives to Jesus Christ. ASK Ministries will strive to include a gospel message with every drink of clean water that it supports.

Clean water is our top priority for  International Missions.  We buy them from the Bucket Ministry and distribute in Kenya.  We currently have a need to get clean water filters into Kenya easier and cheaper.  This is critical for the health of the people.  The filter/bucket we use is the Sawyer PointONE which removes all harmful bacteria, protozoa, or cysts like E. coli, Giardia, Cholera and Typhoid from the water as it passes through the membranes.  The Bucket Ministry uses GIS systems to map each home they help so they can followup with repeated evangelism.

 

Stats

Globally, at least 1.8 billion people use a contaminated drinking water source causing 502,000 diarrhea deaths each year. By 2025, half of the world's population will be living in water-stressed areas.  Nearly half of Africans don’t have access to clean water and two-thirds lack access to sewage infrastructure.
